Another K-5 Vs K-5IIs Sample Comparison (w/ FA*28-70)

Same site, same author, who has done many shootout tests between the two cameras recently and shared his results:-

(in Japanese)

The lens was put at f/5.6 at 50mm which could one of the possible sharpest settings of the lens.

This time, IMHO, the difference between the K-5 and K-5IIs is almost non-existent. In fact, with the extra-sharpness setting +1, the K-5 sample and crop seems to be a bit sharper, even! See this:-

Have to disagree with you once again, Rice... The K5 Mark IIs seems to be a bit sharper. Finer details and less "smudgy" edges. Are these straight jpgs?

Yes, I believe.
So in RAW the difference will be even bigger.
One should hope so, especially when you bare in mind that the Mark IIs is almost double the Mark I's price!
This is not a hope but a day dream then.
You're comparing the launch price of the K-5 IIs to the EOL, heavily discounted K-5's street price? What did you expect, a minor difference?
I see that too. It's quite evident that K-5IIs shows slightly sharper details even with the sharpness setting difference.
If only an expert sees the difference (I don't see any), it is obviously not field relevant.

Very relevant when you print macro photo on 16x24" base....canvas or so...
I think there are differences, but they are each to their own.

Absolutely, not everyone needs the extra "kick" of IIs. The nice part is you get a "small" RAW files with almost FF quality.
Well, I've got a high resolution NEC monitor and I know too much sharpness interferes with my viewing pleasure. I like a very slight soft edge to the rendering of images taken my sharpest lenses. Am I alone?
So where are we headed? Giant screens projecting hyper-detailed images that will show even dust mites at actual pixels? Only dermatologists, the center for disease control, and real sicko's will enjoy porn at 50 megapixels.
I can read "Nippon Ginko" on the right side, not of the left side.
