New Ricoh WG-M1

http://www.us.ricoh-imaging.com/digital-camera/WG-M1_orange

The monitor is way too small IMHO, it is of the same size of my ancient Optio 330, i.e., in 1.5"?! :-o

It *seems* to have built-in WiFi connectivitiy, though, as the specifications does not mention this but just in the product highlights. That is, the first camera of Ricoh Pentax that have this useful and handy function, and a Fuck-card should not be required anymore! :-D

I want K mount stuff. Less novelty, more substance please. C'mon Ricoh you're losing customers!

I disagree with all of you nay-sayesr. Ricoh has done more for Pentax than anyone in the past 5 years. The K-3, The 645Z and the reissue of all 645 lenses are among the improvements. Ricoh already announced that they would keep the Pentax brand for DSLRs and Ricoh for the point - and - shoot cameras. The Ricoh GR is one of the best mirrorless camera with a APS=C CMOS sensor. Forget the FF cazmera. That is silly. They have one better in the 645Z. The Full Frame is a default imposed by camera manufacturers so that they could reuse accessories made for the 35mm film cameras.

As a comparison, after the great D810, Nikon just released Nikon D750, Speedlite SB-500, AF-S 20mm f/1.8G. Blow on blow.
I'm glad Ricoh is rolling out new products because it kicks up noise and gets people's attention. However, this is a short term strategy of appeasement. At some point the products will have to become more serious and point to a central belief of the company. I don't know what that central belief is right now.

This camera looks cool but without a flip up screen I'm not sure it would make a very good still camera. So, it's a video camera with the capability to watch the recorded event after the fact. This is probably a step up from a GoPro that has no screen at all. GoPro was first but I don't think it is the best.

Drift HD is better
Ricoh seems to be concentrating on 645 market. This is a profitable area for them. Nikon and Canon is sure to follow up in that also (as rumors show), as FF is deplorably lacking. They understand that future is reserved for medium format as a professional field and crop as amateur. There seems to be no place for FF.

If seriously, I would buy a full frame camera only if it is under $1000. I have never payed more for a camera and never will. Have shot over twenty weddings with the crop equipment, and nobody ever complained about quality. There is no need to pay more.
