Ned Bunnell Confirms K-5 Sensor Stains Issue But the Problem is Still Under Investigation

See: http://enticingthelight.com/2010/12/01/review-pentax-k-5/#stains

Quoted, "I can confirm that Pentax Japan is fully aware of this situation and is diligently investigating the cause of these stains. I’d like to remind our US customers that their K-5 is covered under the 1-year warranty and that we’ll of course honor that. However, until we find out which batch(es) are affected by the stains, we recommend that photographers keep their cameras and refrain from exchanging them for another unit if purchased from an online retailer. Once we fully understand the origin of the stains and how to deal with them we will encourage affected K-5 owners to send in their cameras for warranty repair."

I think the attitude taken by Ned Bunnell is right, i.e., problem should be admitted and to be dealt with positively. After all, I do hope Hoya/Pentax should have more decision makers like Ned who has a basic open-mindedness and more importantly a right mind to face and tackle problems.

Will they also admit the front-focus problem of K-r?

Just adjust it. Most people don't have a K-r focusing problem.
Except you'll have to re adjust it under every different lighting condition. " hold on, I have to pull out my focus chart and spend 10min re adjusting the focus before I can take a picture". "what, you want to have the picture taken outside? Hold on, let me readjust the focus back to the way it was"
Yeah right viviano, that's a great solution...

If this is your problem, it means you failed to specify your light source under white balance.

I wonder if you ever used a K-r? the front-focus issue is not about white balance setting!

now the ff issue even comes to K-5? http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?fo...
Didn't buy it at a reseller, so I could send it in. Just did, now I'm curious how fast I'll get it back.
I hope real fast because it's so much above my k10 or k20 that I'm already missing it.

Mary, check pentaxforum.com and Pentax K-5 "serial numbers" section to have an idea what's up with the stain, what in USA gets automatically replaces by the vendor. Therefore, no problem at all. We have 2 K-5's in family (one 38..one 39....) and no stain...link is attached..
