Thanks, Rice. Very interestiong. Even though simplified, this lens is still very complicated. So, it is great that these kit lenses are made available or affordable, enabling more people to enjoy photography. I would never have bought Pentax based on its current prices for its metal mount lenses.

I believe the DA35/2.4 is a true DAL lens in principle, i.e., a crippled design from an existing lens/optical formula, plastic mount, no quick-shift focus, no focus scale, no lens hood bundled and so on..

DA35mm f2.4 is technically L (light) high quality non-all metal mount & body, but not designated as such because of its high quality image making. This is very logical, not to create a delusion of a cheap lens or perception of (optically) substandard lens. Just an affordable HQ fixed FL, which it deserves.
