K-5 Issues Galaxy

The sensor stain issue and reports of K-5 have got a bit more silent when Christmas comes near. But since there is no official statement from Pentax/Hoya for formally acknowledging the problem and gives us an explanation on what has been going wrong, some interested potential buyers are still kept asking.. See this example today:-

Next, as it is not difficult to observe from the various K-5 samples posted so far (from reviews, user posts at forums and etc.), the metering of the K-5 is not that accurate and reliable. At least this is what a K-5 user complains about, who was switched from Nikon to Pentax:-

And then, let's look back at the semi-official DA 18-135 on K-5 review by/at the PentaxForums, in particular, the comparison test between the DA 18-135 DC and the DA 18-55 WR. Well, what can you see and find actually? All the test photos (on the resolution chart) are actually out-focused! This is not difficult to observe if you just zoom in the picture (by clicking the magnifying glass symbol) and you'll see it, I am almost sure! :-o :-(

So, yet once again, the AF accuracy of the K-5 is really not impressive, even for the K-5 with the latest SAFOX IX+ AF system of Pentax! Too bad.. Really.. >:-[

I'm still considering staying on Pentax, so I wanna get additional information about K-5.

Do you know anything about P-TTL ? Any new flashes to be released in nearest future? Replacement of 540FGZ?

How good P-TTL works on K-5? Same as on previous models (bad) or was it improved?

There are some reports for flash inaccuracy problems with dedicated Pentax P-TTL flashes on K-5. Here are some of them:-

And also there is one of those discussion threads elsewhere, other than DPR:-

Good Luck!

Listening to you two is like a chat from farmer's market. :o)) Yes, K-5 is awesome (have now 2 in family) and no "pearls" on censor. ISO3200 looks like K10D's 800. And with touch of DeNoise5, it's crazy good... Extremely silent shutter (I really like that!).

Little fill flash seems OK (one can always compensate if you don't like it), 360FGZ seems OK too (have little use for it), there was some rant about new gen of P flashes next year, who knows...

AF locks on better than anything P I ever had, are humming birds fast enough for you? Like the GOLD grid in LV, K-5 is still pretty light and (limited) powerzoom works as well....and now back to your fm chat.. :o))
Got the k-5, and got the stains, in the small month I've used the K-5 I can say it's the best Pentax dslr ever.
Waiting now for a replacement.
