Pentax Q Won in a Recent (Japanese) Poll in Popularity for Digital Cameras in 2011

It beats the NEX-7 and the EOS 1DX and has got the Number One! Wonderful? :-D

Well, it seems that we Pentaxians and actually many fans are always keenest and be the most united when it comes to those cyber pollings. But then practically the sale results and figures of the Pentax products are not so good, just read those BCN results to compare if wanted! So? :-o

I like Q, it is better than compact or mobile phone and lenses are really tiny. Quality is enough good for birthdays and parties. Hopefully price drops soon.

Putting aside the image quality limitation (which is in-born anyway), the Q is actually the best felt Pentax camera product for the build and design quality when put in my hands for the first *impression*!

And finally flash sync is faster due to the leaf shutter. Pentax is proud of integrating professional features in non professional products. X-sync speed• 1/2000 sec - leaf shutter. There is very little usage of this sync speed at those power levels but it is still fun. Design is excellent.

I suspect electronic shutter is also utilised to attain that speed.

no its a leaf shutter since the 2000 shutter speed is only available with certain lenses I believe the zooms only

Leaf shutter used in conjunction with electronic shutter feature of the sensor itself make it possible to attain that higher flash sync speed but without either any one of these, the flash sync speed will be lower.

No, it's not. And the external flash sync is 1/250th which is on semi-pro DSLR class. Not the Nex nor Micro four thirds sync that high. The Nikon 1 does (Nikon has been known for good flash sync speeds).

Nice camera, too bad about the small sensor and price point. Went with XZ-1 instead for a point and shoot.

I think the price is a problem, the sensor is probably too small as well. I can't see this being a serious choice for most people.
And to think they actually pumped cash into the development of this!

I honestly don't read much into polling like these because the sample is not representative of the market, imho.
