Nikon V2's DxOMark is Close to That of Pentax Q!

Look at:-

http://www.dxomark.com/index.php/en%E7%B0%BF%E8%81%B6%E7%BF%BB/Cameras/Compare-Camera-Sensors/Compare-cameras-side-by-side/%28appareil1%29/849|0/%28brand%29/Nikon/%28appareil2%29/745|0/%28brand2%29/Nikon/%28appareil3%29/722|0/%28brand3%29/Pentax

Btw, I wonder why it is yet worse to its predecessor, i.e., the V1? More pixels but worse image quality?! :-o

It's closest at base ISO (and even there it's not that close). Any measurement that moves from base ISO the Q looses even more. There is a difference between a type 1/2.3 sensor and a type 1 inch sensor.

Still the move to 14MPx on the V2 is a very odd move.

Good rule of thumb: don't use dxomark overall score for comparisons. The don't mean much. Use the scores that matter to your photography (and for me that's DR and higher ISO performance .. and the V2 beats the V1 and Q at higher ISO).

Best of all look at the measurements tab not the single numbers to see how they change with increasing ISO. In this case you see the Q significantly below both Nikons essentially all the time.

The Q is more or less one stop behind both Nikon 1 cameras. Just look at dB values for each ISO setting.
Which isn't all that bad considering how much smaller the Q's sensor is. A stop could be overtaken easily in a generation or two of new sensor technology. The V2 is clearly doing better in higher ISOs, which is probably not such a bad thing as this was kind of a weak area for the V1. The real problem with the Q is the sensor size. Its resolving 10mp or so at the max and that won't likely improve. The whole system is diffraction limited from f2 onwards. Good luck with keeping that a viable system for 10 years.
dxomark is not everything. It does not say directly how good image quality would be ..especially if the jpegs are concerns.
For example look ta the OM-D with its very good image quality and some of the pentax cameras which win over it per dxomark but in reality they not always do...
