Is this only the shutter life expectancy, or does it include the sensor ? To my experience, sensor- life is much more an issue than shutter-life. For Pentax, i have a wonderfull ist-d, shutter count about 4000, that i didn't use any more. Few weeks ago i tried it again, just for fun, shutter fires happily, but no image is stored anymore. Same experience with a few Canon compacts that i have, they just die from one moment to another while the shutters still work perfectly.
Guess not shutter count is the important parameter, it is age ! That is a big difference between a digital and an analogue camera, the latter ones can last for 50 years provided the shutter count stays in limits
