If its old then answer is no :)
It is quite logical that Sony don't give Pentax their latest sensors.

I doubt that it has something to do with "giving". Maybe the 36 MP sensor fits better in the calculations. Maybe there aren't enough 42 MP sensors. Maybe the rumor is not true. Maybe it has a 24 MP sensor. We will have to wait until it is presented, before we know for sure what the hardware specifications will be. Speculation is not going to help you any further. If you want topspecs NOW, go for a Sony A 7R II or that Canon thingy, or the Pentax 645Z. In the meantime it all looks great: a really new camera is introduced shortly, it will have good specs and no one will be disappointed. Not even you, RiceHigh. We will all buy at least one new FF camera, lots of lenses, and we will all be very happy with the new pictures we will take.
It could even be a refreshed 36 mpx that will live alongside the new 42 mpx, so that the 42 one is the successor of the old 36, and the new 36 is the successor of the old 24. We are still talking about rumors BTW...

Sony has 42 MP, Canon has 50 MP, and is working on 120 MP, where the Pentax sensor of 36 MP will stand? What happened to the sensor-shift technology, which can produce 100 MP?
I think it is a good idee to use the "old" sensor this will keep the price relatively low :-)

I hope the same for the price + with a smaller sensor we get more fps with the same core :)

Only thing that makes me sad with "low mp" is the crop mode for my beloved aps-c lenses...
The IMX094 cannot be read faster than ~5fps, so if it's not a completely new, unknown version of the sensor, you won't get more fps. I think an alternative version of the A7RII sensor (without PDAF) makes much more sense.
I hope very much that the crop mode can be disabled. Because it is well known that some of the DA lenses have a full image circle (e.g., the DA70mm) yet are small and thus sexy. And on the other hand, there may be some interesting effects with the other lenses, e.g. the DA15 or the fisheye. Plus, cropping in post instead of in camera enables the user to decide how and how much to crop.

So it would be a big disappointment for me if the crop mode would be always on with DA lenses.
