DA35/2.4 and DA70/2.4 Limited on Film (Large Samples, f/2.8 to f/11)

The following shots were made with the above two DA lenses on my MZ-S with Fuji Superia 200 film on a bright day and film-scanned in about 6 megapixels. Here they are:-

DA(L) 35/2.4
DA 70/2.4 Limited
f/2.8
f/2.8
f/4f/4
f/5.6f/5.6
f/8f/8
f/11
f/11

So, it is proven that both lenses are 100% Full Frame compatible. As for the optical performance (versus problems) at different apertures, it'd better for you to go measurebate and find these out by yourself! :-)

wow nice...AND THE MZ5 WHAT great film camera...you have some great toys Rice....Pentax is always a step ahead of the game. Look at their A lenses that work with all the digital cameras of today. Can't do that with Nikon, Sony, or CAnon.
Good seeing you taking some photos...That city looks so big.

Thanks, but it's a MZ-S, not the 5! (though the two characters do look alike~)

As for those test *samples*, once again they were created just for the sake of testing, not really anything I wanted to take as "photos" by themselves! :-)

Hong Kong might be a big (or should be crowded) city, the above samples show only a small part of it. For some of my previous photos showing both sides of the Victoria harbour (i.e., the urban areas), you can take a look at:-

100% full frame compatible?
Well, your images at f2.8 and even f4 show a 'bit' of vignetting, I would say...
But yes, the lens can mount and shot, that's true.

Vignetting is a major weakness of the FF, even those Canon L lenses that are ten times dearer than the DA35 are of no exception. Here is the PZ vignetting test of the iuxury EF35L on 5D2, see what happens yourself!

Exactly. Really the DA L 35 should have been designated a DFA. With FF any lens will have darker corners at bigger aperatures. Dedicated APS-C lenses typically show the same performance characteristic on APS-C. With FF a larger format lens does not exist to give it a sweet spot effect as with FF lens on APS-C. A non FF compatible lens would basically have a smaller circle at big aperatures not just slightly darkened corners.
i tried the DA 35/2.4 on film too, and if you don't take picture of some very bright scene, you won't notice the vignetting :)

But that's a good thing to know that the 70/2.4 is FF compatible :) now i just wonder if i need the half stop of the FA77 ;-)
Out of curiousity, how did you control the aperture on your MZ-S with those DA lenses?

Use the "Hyper Operation" (i.e., Program Shift to Tv Mode).
