Compare this pic,s with 35mm pic,s.
I think 35mm pic, s will win
FA★ 24mm f/2 and FA★ 85mm f/1.4 as an homage to Jun Hirakawa who designed them as well as the SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD a.k.a. HD Pentax-D FA 24-70mm f/2.8 ED SDM WR?

The FA*85 pic seems was out-focused a bit. The colour rendition is nice, though, despite some highlight clipping is seen.

The image shows a typical FA*85 field of focus.
It shows that there is much more area or distance in front of the point of 'max focus' that is still in focus where as behind the point of max focus it blurs very quickly. This is typical of the lens and it is the way the lens was designed to work.
The shot was a bad application of a portrait specific lens and it shows. If the A*85 or FA*77 in that particular application where the FA*85 would excel in a portrait application.

To clarify the last sentence in my post above , "The A*85 or FA*77 in that particular application would be a better pick where the FA*85 would excel in a portrait application.

I usually land on the negative side. Some may even call me a pessimist.
But in this case it's a bit early to judge the performance of the camera given the low res samples provided. The 85 image does not look good and does not have good bokeh which the lens is known for. But in my experience the FA*85 is specifically a portrait lens (or as I call it "the Botox lens") it is not at all a lens for landscape or to be used for distance. It is designed specifically for portraits. The camera does not add or take away from the bokeh, it's an effect of the lens. The image above is more of a landscape shot and from my experience with the 85 I would not expect to acquire a good image.

This is not a "technical" sample of course. They can do better and they will. This is only published to say "we're alive and still working on the release of this camera you are all craving for. Don't forget us! We'll be back!" Nothing else! So stop whining over some pictures that don't mean much more than to accompany a reminder that the camera will be with us soon.
I'm no I.T genius, nor do I have a specific education in marketing. Nor I am a professional photographer.

CAPS LOCK! WHAT IS PENTAX THINKING? ARE THEY THINKING?

I've knocked up borderline pro quality marketing work using 1. My own photography using Pentax cameras and lenses, 2. Squarespace or similar easy online website publishing, 3. Powerpoint printing borderless to pdf export for professional printing. All of this work was used to market a fairly large company!

It is not difficult. Even I can do it. I am quite a thick person. I am not that bright. Looking at the Pentax full frame teaser site and the two (!) example photos is . . . well, quite shocking to be honest . . . and off putting.

Pentax. Get a grip.
