D FA* 70-200 F2.8 is Delayed to April 2016

(in Japanese)

I bet the Pentax FF body would not be released earlier! :-( Frankly, the new lens and body should be released on the 1st of April so as to celebrate the traditional Pentax BIG day for these years! ;-D That must be really great and please delay no more, Ricoh!! :-(

Rice, are you going to buy it? They only reason I'd buy it if it could be used for sports and had way faster AF than the 80-200f2.8.

Most are waiting for the FF. I fear the price will be high.

I am not interested in this lens but only the FF body.
I agree, the 70 2.4 Limited, 100 D FA Macro 2.8 (feels like Limited) and SMC DA (old FA based, FF in practice) 200 2.8 defeats the new lens easily (resolution) I assume. New FF body is of more importance. I think everything will be / comes OK in 2016. My own "patience Pentax time-line" is July 1, 2016.........

If Ricoh is to release their FF b4 April, they should release this long awaited and delayed lens together. I see no reason to delay it further and why it is required to be released separately.
That make perfect sense to me, why all the delay?
Toet, off-topic, but I did a bit of research on that Sigma 2.8/120-300 OS HSM S lens. Big problems with reliability according to Lensrentals. In fact it was their most unreliable lens.

"The 120-300mm f/2.8 OS has pretty much summed up my long-term love-hate relationship with Sigma. How could I not love an f/2.8 zoom in this range with great optics? How could I not hate that for 2 years it's been our most frequently repaired lens, lasting an average of 13 weeks before going back to the factory?"

Seen others reporting similar. AF failure.
Hi, thx for the information! When I decided "to stay" with Pentax (Q1 2011) I did research for the combination Sigma-Nikon, Sigma-Canon and Sigma-Pentax. I understood (reading, stores) that Sigma-Canon does not match well regarding back/front AF problems (because of camera-internal Canon-protections against B-brandings). A friend of mine, Canon-shooter, confirmed it. With Nikon (and Pentax) there are less/no problems. In Pentax-practice I have no back/front AF issues with Sigma. Unfortunately it is (slower, however reliable) screw-drive AF. I have no experience with 120-300 Sigma. May be this lens is not good enough, I don't know. I believe it is always "better" to stay with your brand (camera/lens). However the new Sigma's (for example sports 150-600) are very good. Also because of the 80/20 rule. For 20% of the Canon-price you will get 80% (or more to 90%) of the Canon quality (resolution). In case you are able to buy the original brand-lens, get that lens! Regards.
Ricoh Pentax is planning how to loose support,
as marketing tool
Come April I have little doubt another delay will be announced. Pentax can no longer be taken seriously, investing in the K-mount is too much of a risk now. Whilst other manufacturers are producing and marketing innovative cameras with desirable lenses, Pentax is left floundering. Nikon's D810 successor will no doubt be announced fairly soon and considering the Nikkor lens line-up along with 3rd party F-mount glass I don't think Pentax stands a chance now in what is a falling ILC market in a very turbulent global economy. Even Sony is seeing big falls in sales.

This time round I do think Pentax is actually doomed, which is a shame, but it's of their own doing.

Better delaying things than releasing half finished products to the market, like Nikon with its camera's did do quite a few times. Although I do not see the use of a FF camera would benefit the way I take pictures, marketing wise it is always a good thing to release after so many years of waiting. It will put your brand in the 'serious professionals' market, whatever that may be, it will gain your brand prestige and standing. That is worth investing a bundle, even though you 'don't think Pentax Ricoh does stand a chance ... in what is a falling ILC market'. We'll see. And if you can't wait, or don't want to wait, for whatever reason, then don't. There are enough camera's from brands that aren't called DOOMED!!! by their impatient users. So I advise you to follow suit and get yourself a Nikon camera and equipment and enjoy it. Don't ever complain about Nikon on this forum ever. There are other forums to satisfiy this.
I've been waiting five years. Others even longer. You must measure patience in geological age. All this teaser nonsense is embarrassing to witness it's so bad, so badly timed, looks terrible.

By the way, don't tell me what to do you patronising . . .

Waiting a long time now too. In fact, it'd be better if they came out and said they WEREN'T doing it. Then I would move on. The teaser stuff works, I guess, but truth is we are all tired of waiting... How could you not be tired of waiting and the delays? I will wait longer, however.
I have been waiting for 14 years, since 2001 they displayed the MZSD prototpye! :-(

Well I've waited and waited but the market moves on and I have reluctantly jumped ship as Pentax don't produce what I need and I needed it now.
Sorry, I was waiting not so long time as many of you, only 4-5 years. Now ... yesterday ... I was buying the Sony A7IIR, not very cheap, but even better as the Pentax K-1 can be ... especially if you can buy the K-1 only the 15th may, perhaps 2016, perhaps 2017, perhaps ...
What uninspiring photos.
