"Important" New Pentax Product Is To Be Announced Soon

At the Pentax exhibition booth, it is printed on one of the display descriptions that a new product is to be announced but it is covered. It is further reported that according to insider source, it was told that it would not be a P&S, but just something "more important".

We shall know what it is, very soon! :-o

I did some heavy processing to the (original) image,and analyzing of the shapes and reflections, and what I can say for certain is that what is underneath is smaller than what it seems - heigth/width-ratio seems to be similar to K-r, but the item seems to be quite a bit thinner relative to the other dimensions - likely both thinner body and much smaller grip. IF it is a mirrorless, then it is quite a tall in shape compared to the other models on the market - to me this would indicate a viewfinder and grip tall enough to be comfortable. However, the shape of the top is also flat, so the viewfinder would probably be positioned into the traditional rangefinder position.

Anyhow, it's not a mirrorfull SLR (APS-C,35 or medium format), so either it is an EVILC (or ILC), or a fancy and weird P&S. Knowning Pentax, I'd guess it's rainbow colored waterproof P&S, but I imagine there is good 30% chance of it being what we all have been waiting for (and if it really is "different" (and sellable) as it's supposed to be, it ought to have a VF and environmental protection in a small yet ergonomic package.

The characters on the box are Chinese. Although the first to have a similar meaning and mean new product . Whatever it is I hope it does not have an EVF.
