Fuji X-Series Lens Roadmap 2012-2013

So, the lenses to be offered in X-mount are:-

2012
• 14mm (21mm equivalent) super wide
• 18-72mm f/4 (27-108mm equivalent) image stabilized zoom

2013
• 23mm f/2 (34mm equivalent) wide
• 28mm f/2.8 pancake design (42mm equivalent) normal
• 12-24mm f/4 (18-36mm equivalent) image stabilized zoom
• 70-200mm f/4 (105-300mm equivalent) image stabilized zoom

Seems to be quite nice for the lineup and I do like much the focal lengths of the two primes in 23mm and 28mm which are my favourite AoV in 35mm and 43mm of 135 film equivalent, which both Pentax lacks in the current DA lens line.

Agree about 23 and 28. I also very like 27-28mm equivalent.

I prefer 24mm for wide-angle fixed prime (film equivalent) and then to 35mm.
Rice. I have an expirience shooting landscapes. Any angle that is wider than 27-28 is practically useless for that purpose. The only need for wider is for indoors usage.
IMO 24 is the standard focal for true ultra wide angle for landscape.
Very nice range indeed, and unlike Pentax lenses, all these 9 lenses are specifically designed for this Fuji or this generation, i.e. making use of its characteristics like having no AA filter, closer distance of lens to the sensor, etc. I hope they are really good and if so, $500 or $600 would be very reasonable (comparing with other modern lenses that are really good). That 23mm f/2 looks very nice and it should be available in a kit with the camera, being better in use when the owner has only one lens.
I don't like X-Pro1 camera at all...it's not mine design.

This X-Pro1 and rangefinder type of cameras are not exactly my design either and I would probably never be able to justify the X-Pro 1, but I actually love the way Fuji keeps coming up with truly innovative designs. From the little F30 with its superb low-light performance and the S5 Pro with its exceptional DR in the past, and now these latest X series cameras, they dared to be different, and gave us hexagonal sensor cells, Super CCD sensor, diagonally aligned cells for easy binning and EXR modes, film simulation ... ... hybrid viewfinders, removal of AA filters in large sensors through the use of a different colour cell pattern, ... and also some of the old style controls that we love, like the manual zoom ring, and the aperture ring on the lens, and implemented them in digital cameras.

This X-Pro1 won't appeal to the majority, being one that is aimed at Leica like customers. There is rumour that Fuji will release a lower-end model like the X-Pro1 and that could be very significant as a cheaper mass-market product, if they get the design right. Perhaps using the same sensor with its FF like quality, the same EVF and mount, but in a smaller and lighter body (not all metal), IS, built-in flash, and bundling it with an affordable general purpose zoom lens. Wouldn't that be a nice cross-grade if not upgrade path for Pentax DSLR owners if Ricoh decides to abandon DSLRs?
