More Fuji X-Pro 1 Details and New Features

Information source from an unpublished article of the French printed magazine Response Photos.

Via DCView (in Traditional Chinese, Google English Translation Here)

Here are what's special:-

1. New unique type 6-colour filter per pixel APS-C sized sensor in 16MP, pixels are not in Bayer arrangement, no Anti-aliasing filter is required;

2. Separate AF sensor and detection (not sensor image contrast detection type, I think);

3. Optical viewfinder's Angle-of-View automatically couples with the lens mount for its focal;

4. Optical viewfinder now has electronic display information overlaid, i.e., the best of both world.

Interesting camera indeed! The big question is whether it has the organic sensor that Fuji patented and that is supposed to rival 35mm image quality. Fuji specifically mentioned "film" in its descriptions of image quality and it suggests "organic" to me, i.,e. not digital quality.

Hm, no offence mate, but this organic stuff sounds like marketing bs
Fuji had filed their patent earlier. I reported the news too, back to 2009:-

Sure, the word "organic" sounds like a creative marketing term, but there does appear to be something in the new sensor that is very beneficial, e.g. the removal of the AA filter on a large sensor, and also the shorter distance of shutter and lens to the sensor. And this is only the first camera of its kind. Imagine a camera with a full frame sensor built this Fuji technology! No wonder I heard Canon is worried.
There is no separate AF sensor. Body only $1700. Lenses start from $650+. Nex-7 look like a bargain to this.

Agree. In addition, Fuji's hybrid VF is strange at least (IMO optical part is useless, the electronic part is outdated. The optical part only increases the price). Fuji only can form a small niche for itself. The NEX-7 looks more like a camera of future.
Least is better than none! And, an optical viewfinder is *always* useful when shoot in the bright or the dark.
NEX-7 looks like a bargain only if you buy the body. The Sony NEX lenses are so ordinary that you have to get Carl Zeiss or Leica lenses to make use of what the NEX-7 can deliver. That means HUGE costs, and also even more problem in the balance due to the big heavy lenses. In contrast, the Fuji X-Pro has much smaller and lighter lenses that go deeper inside the camera body, a larger body, for better balance. With a few lenses, the cost and weight of the Fuji system will be lower than a Sony NEX-7 system. With good lenses, all the fine electronic wizardry in the Sony is wasted.

Let's see how the new Fuji sensor performs in actual tests and how good its lenses really are. If they are close to the promise Fuji made, i.e. similar to FF, then this Fuji would be a much better balanced (in weight, handling, as well as in costs) than a Sony NEX-7 system with some big, expensive German lenses IMHO.
I meant to say
Without good lenses, all the fine electronic wizardy in the Sony NEX-7 is wasted.
Sigma released two prime lenses. They are a stop slower but at least 2 times cheaper than Fuji lenses. There is also a cheap 50mm F1.8 which is stabilized too. None of Fuji lenses are stabilized. And there is the cheap kit lens, and 18-200 from Tamron. Fuji doesn't even have an option for a cheap native lens. There are hundreds of cheap manual focus lenses. With LAE2 adapter, Nex-7 can use PDAF AF with all A-mount lenses.

And Fuji camera itself is almost same size as K-5 (much larger than Nex-7).
The Sony E 30 and 50mm primes are not that expensive. And, they are not that big actually if a standard lens mount flange distance (in 40+mm) is assumed.
You wanted to Sony well known 16Mp sensor with custom Fuji CFA?
1700€ this is indeed competition to Pentax Q lol…
