Pentax K-50 Leaked

http://photorumors.com/2013/06/05/pentax-k-50-dslr-camera-leaks-on-retailers-website-in-france/

How is the "new" camera different from the old K-30, except for now the more traditional appearance and a stereo built-in microphone (still no mic-in socket of any!)? Is it really so difficult for Ricoh to make a true new body? And, where is the compact DSLR body of Pentax? E.g., a K-x successor, which could compete with the Canon EOS 100D??

Btw, there is also a "new" kit lens to come. From the picture above, it reads "DAL 18-55mm WR". Bravo, Pentax Ricoh! ;-p

What's wrong with the current body that Pentax/Ricoh has to change?
I don't think it's practical to build the smallest DSLR just to have the smallest DSLR title :-). How small is small anyway?
But yes, it looks like a K-30 in a different body. But let's wait for the official specs before judging it.

What a booooooring body, I didn't see any different from K-30, I would really expect PENTAX Ricoh could do something shock the market, otherwise I believe the market of PENTAX will be languor immediately, and all of us will looking for new system next!!!

I like how it looks (on my lcd screen at least) and I'm glad they toned down the sharp edges, I am conservative and that has stopped me from considering a k-30 despite the great value. However, with no specs/hands-on we can't tell if it is good or not (but it does seem to be weather sealed), so I will stay tuned.

Please don't take away the glass prism!

K-30: polycarbonate body, K-50: magnesium alloy... a "slight" improvement?

I think it's rather good that Pentax is showing consistency in at least the design area. K-01 = market shocker. Q = market shocker. Up and down lens prices = market shocker. They've tried the clown role for a while and it hasn't really led to any commercial success this far.. Only forum threads like "OMG THE PENTAX SHIP IS SINKING!!!" etc..
I for one wouldn't buy a camera that looks like a miniature sportcar from space (k-30)..

still no dedicated video recording button .. Anyone knows how hard is it to put a dedicated movie recording button in a digicam design?
does it need to sacrifice 100 virgins? or cut the designer fingers as a requirement to put another dedicated button? or the design is kept in the darkest dungeon of Mordor? or its just in their blood to give all the jobs to the awesome green button?

The little green button next to shutter release button ... It's a dedicated video button.
Is it only me, or does it look more like a Canon body.
It's somehow more bubbly/curvy than the previous design. The design of the K5-line is nice and also my
K-x. This new k-50 however, I don't like.

so f.. boring !!!
i don't need that sh..
i'm just waiting for Pentax full frame dslr.
i really don't understand PR heads these days.
it's unbelievable ! why making new entry level cameras now ?? with same sensors ??
1 more disappointing news and i change for 5DmkII.
i'm really too exhausted to wait for that kind of stuff !
Is this one going to have hdmi out when shooting video? What about video focus peaking? Apparently not even a fold-out screen.

I love all the virtues of Pentax - build quality, weather sealing, nice optics - but the feature-set arms race is I think increasingly about advanced video capabilities. Pentax has no line of dedicated interchangeable lens video cameras like Canon, Sony, and Panasonic and Blackmagic ain't making a K-mount camera either. Even the new Nikon (the 7100 I mean) has some kind of tracking af for video.

I suspect we'll begin to see dslrs that can shoot raw video (without a firmware hack I mean [although such a thing isn't even available for Pentax cameras]) in the next couple of years. How long are people going to have to wait for Pentax to catch up?

I don't like watching amateur videos and have never taken them with my K-5 or K-5llS, Pentax shouldn't make me wait for a niticeably better DSLR (Full Frame) while they try to make their DSLR more like a Video Camera. I do like saving my photos in adobe DNG at 14 bit color depth and having familiar controls that I need where I need them. As it is now, word of mouth advertising has it that no pro has a Pentax. Pros have Full Frame DSLRs w/14 bit color depth (16 bit color depth for Medium Format) and save photos as RAW Files, and if your wedding photographer takes your video with any DSLR camera YOU SHOULD'T PAY THEM !!!

It's just a damn wedding.. If they can't tell the difference let the videographers get their hustle on. It's hard enough doing this damn thing for a living.
Well it's a K-30 with a mag alloy body ;-)
Ok fair enough but another 16mp CMOS sensor? I like the sensor it's good, but how this is going to help Pentax is beyond me.
Meanwhile everyone else is marching forward.
Yes the K-30 was ugly (prob didn't help sales)

As for the kit lens let's hope it's completely new, the older 18-55mm's sucked big time awful kit lens worst bar none out of all the makers

Well I waited and waited for this new camera (which is still just a rumour) and almost jumped ship. In the end I went for a k-30 which I kinda like the look of now. I shoot weddings( video and photography) and have just completed my first wedding with the K-30. I was worried about battery life but used a set of eneloop xx -750 shots of raw + jpeg and still a full green bar! And I agree with Dan - DSLR's may produce good video with predictable circumstances but there's no way they compare to a dedicated video camera. I'd never risk using a dslr for a wedding video. I know there are some that do but that's just based on my experience.

I initially thought that any new pentax apsc dslr should have either the sony 20mp or 24mp sensor but looking at the output from Nikon and sony there's only a marginal increase in resolution but the noise is visible much earlier on than with the 16 mp sensor (at least 2 stops to me) and the pictures are smudged to hide it. I'm glad for now anyway that I bought the k-30.
