Yet Another Rumour: More Pentax DSLRs to Come This Fall

Roland Mabo, the long-time Pentax Internet supporter, has recently posted this rumour at the PF:-

http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-news-rumors/227880-swedish-distributor-hints-new-products.html

This is the key statement that told: "In fall 2010 Ricoh bought the camera division of Pentax, and with this came big resources for development of new products. Now we can see the first fruits of this. Two new DSLR's at the same time, and this fall there's more on the way."

But then I really don't feel excited even what is told will happen! It is because that "two new" cameras could mean nothing at all, as we have just seen with the K-50 and K-500, which is actually the same old K-30 but split and repackaged! >:-( Maybe Pentax Ricoh finally took my little advice about the coffin looks of their DSLRs and finally decided to repack them soonest as a result! Thank you, PR!! ;-D

Btw, do you really want a K-5III with only a different outlook but 99% same things inside?! :-o

Where are all those new Pentax K-mount lenses? Do they exist? They have all disappeared! Just check against their last lens roadmap which has not been updated for quite some time now and you will soon discover that the listed new lenses on the roadmap are simply paperware! The WR editions of the "new" DAL lenses are not really anything new, neither are the newly coloured DAL kit zooms and the Q 01 02 lenses. The only new lens in this recent product announcement is only the Q 07 body cap lens!!

I guess they put all their development capacities into the FF DSLR project... including lenses!
So they can launch a FF DSLR with a good set of FF AF Zooms and some Primes (but ok, we already have the Limiteds, so there is not so much urgency). - Ok... i am dreaming...wake me up

Yes, you wishing thinking! ;-p
definitley
if you can dream it, you can engineer it *lol*
The only "engineering" work that I can do to make a FF K-mount DSLR comes true is to adapt the old Pentax film glass onto a Canon FF body! >:-(
I think PENTAX Ricoh just want to active the market, try to make cosumer won't forget Pentax, but still got far away from customer expectation, I didn't think this is a good pubilish of PENTAX, I think it is really 99% same as K-30, dons't make any different, I'm still waiting for new high end camera to replace the K-5IIs, I really hope next produck will shock the market and bring all of producktion line up, otherwise most of High end Pentax user are geting tired, now the new products are getting boring and boring,

Man, please take some humour!

Honestly speaking, I believe that Pentax has never read any page and post in this Blog of mine.
If they did, then we'd have a hard time with finding something to complain about.
IMO, Pentax really are trying to make something different to avoid direct competition with canikon. Sony allready tried :) This is only marketing. But with this statement, Pentax declares, that they care only about new users in Pentax camp and they are forgeting about current enthusiasts who are waiting for FF with a bunch of FF compatible lenses.
Look these 2 new bodies sure they're fine for what they are, but 16mp is yesterdays sensor and marketing wise they won't do that well, despite the good viewfinders, good spec and overall quite a bit of camera for your cash, they are warmed over K30's (ie body redesign mostly we knew the K-30 looked too odd to sell that well)

I admire Pentax for using good prism VF's,better than the awful cut down D3200..tunnel VF and lack of spec esp flash.
But we know what is going to sell better (Sadly)

As for FF not so easy for Pentax their flash system is the weakest out there, they have the smallest lens range and added to that a lot less FF lenses than anyone else does (Even Sony have a lot more) I wish them well, but can't help think that unless they do something "real nice price wise" FF strategy that it's doomed to failure.

It's not like Pentax has to win against Nikon, Canon, or Sony, but they're afraid to jump in and sell a FF DSLR (or even announce anything) until it's to late. They should get their act together so word of mouth advertising works for them instead of against them. Ie: Pentax appears to have no intention of developing a FF DSLR so any Pentax products you buy will be limited in scope to cameras meant for beginners, (which Nikon, Canon, and Sony sell anyway) if Pentax tries a little harder they to can develop a name like Fugi, who no longer sells a DSLR and at one time had a Medium Format...
The roadmap says "2013 or later". It's that very little particular that screws you.
K-5 II/s replacement announcement in October, 24Mpx -- D7100 like
Maybe FF in October
Why October? http://www.photoplusexpo.com/ :D

Maybe PR will be there, but for now Pentax Ricoh aren't still listed as exhibitors.
And all big booths are already taken.
