The Much Belated DPR K-5II/s Review

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/pentax-k-5-ii-k-5-ii-s/18

This review finally arrives after 10 months of the original product announcement for this "stop-gap" product! I am afraid that the body have already reached the end of its product life cycle actually! In fact, it has existed just for too long whilst the real gap has become larger and larger! >:-( So, mission failed!! :-o

Wow RH...this post is a masterclass on how to ruin a review that actually gives a very high grade to the product reviewed.
Congratulations !!
Rice, don't be afraid. Your Pentax gear will survive. I think it is time you understand (as a "photographer"), what photography is about.

It's been said that even a bad review is better than no review at all (I pre-ordered my K5llS based on reviews of Pentax's first pro-DSLR for under $10,000.00) and I still have my first 14 bit K5. It's a day late and a dollar short to help sales or improve the image but if and when Pentax announces a great Full Frame DSLR or any Full Frame DSLR at all, it will help both (sales & image) just so long as they don't spring it on us as a surprise or make it the SOS, (ie the WG-lll, now in WHITE!!!) if you don't pay for ads then you need to tell people in advance for word of mouth advertising to work?
K2 DMD is still the stop gap for me... ( I also have K2 black, MZ-S with the O-ME53, and the *istD)
APS-C DSLR is stupid and absurd - way tiny viewfinder to be considered a true DSLR.

0,9 - 1 X magnification, and ~22 mm eye point, is a true SLR viewfinder for FF35.
MZ-S pentaprism is way too tiny for that.
The stop-gap model outclasses the D7100 in low light focusing. Incremental model notwithstanding, it can still hold it's own against 'more modern' cameras in the photo department.

The only gap I see is the absence of a Pentax FF. But that has existed since Pentax stepped into the digital age. With the new round of FF rumours, we may see that gap disappear sooner or later :-).
What to remember from this review is that K5II/IIs still shines with its image quality. This is the most important thing for a photographer.

But the following are still cons of the IQ aspects:

- Jaggies and color error can be a problem along very fine diagonal lines (more so with the K-5 IIS)
- Noise processing in Raw at ISO 3200 and above prevents use of superior software solutions
Gold award for each? Epic fail! Ricehigh must be right. It's all over for Pentax.
