Ricoh to Fill a Gap of the Camera Market in 2012

Quoted, "Chas Moloney, Ricoh UK marketing director, said the company is now preparing a new product that will plug a gap in the market, which will be unveiled in 2012."

So, what will come and what "gap" is to be filled? Is it just pure sales talk, or is something big really coming??

they will take the Lieca mount gxr module and swap out the mount for a standard k-mount...

GAP in the Market? I don't think we have a Full Frame Gap in the market... In the Pentax line yes...

Most camera manufacturers are looking for that niche that will make them relevant. I seriously home Ricoh keeps the Pentax DSLR line moving forward. I would love to see a full frame camera as well.

They can mean whatever they wish with that "gap". Like for example the gap between the fly shit sized sensor of the notorious Q and the APS-C sensor of current Pentax DSLRs. We Pentaxians are so desperate that whatever comes out of their mouth, we end up interpreting it as an imminent FF camera release. Yawn.

Gap in the market could easily mean the millions of new and legacy Pentax glass that have no Evil class k-mount camera to mount on..
which is most logical... if pentax were already working on one... or wether the gxr module gets re-worked... there is a gap in the market....
so the whole ff issue is not really important.... having an NEX 7 in k-mount would be sweet, for my shooting needs...

I seriously home Ricoh keeps the Pentax DSLR line moving forward. I would love to see a full frame camera as well. We Pentaxians are so desperate that whatever comes out of their mouth, we end up interpreting it as an imminent FF camera release.
