"What Would Be a Good Camera?"

So, it is reassured that the brand Pentax will be continued and better cameras will be made. Okay, good! But I'd love to see real actions that are to be taken and see how good the next camera(s) would be! :-D

Hey! How about keeping the same camera (I mean K-5 here), but making it 100% trouble-free? All the same features + real quality so that it easily survives >10 years -- that's what many people want, a certain kind of K-1000 replacement.

And also make current DA* lenses 100% free of complaints, advertise that aggressively and don't change the price, and Pentax will at last stop the damned pointless DSLR evolution.

I prefer one last firmware upgrade to solve software problems and add missing features like video manual control, and then a great evolutionary leap for the next model, something worth upgrading, something new in Pentax style with touch of Ricoh smartness.

FA*/limited with digital coating and new DFA* with a faster reliable motor
As I said somewhere else already, I wish for a K-5 with integrated O-GPS1 (and integrated lightning trigger, that would be fancy!), improved AF accuracy (not speed) and otherwise the same camera. Maybe a slight improvement in the software to make it easier to switch between the various user modes. But don't change too much!
DFA*200 f4 macro, DFA 50 Macro WR, DFA*28-70 70-200 2.8, WR Flash system all that with 30MP fullframe in size of K-5 with integrated GPS.

Pentax Q with a slightly larger sensor and slightly lower MP for less noisy picture, WR, and a more reasonable price tag. Hope I'm not asking too much :-D

If it were possible to have a FF sensor in a k-5-like body size would be a game changer in ff dslr market.
I read many times of people who have switched from FF to APS-C for the only reason of the unreasonable weight/size, a k-1 full frame with k-5 size-like and limited trio would upset this.

But at the same time Pentax needs fill some serious gaps,
better Flash system with at least 1/250 sync speed,
more accurate Af system in the body and more fast/reliable Af motor in the lenses.

Beautifully written, but in the end it sounded like an excuse for not being able to keep with not only the big two, but also with the trend of the market . . . .
First of all, it is good sign for all the Pentaxian. Without any marketing and good strategy plan nor development map effort HOYA did, Pentax still securing a good position in DSLR line.
With the new acquisition by Ricoh, we can expect Ricoh going to boost up Pentax and create a better future for Pentax... no one willing to spend money to lost money... so let see... PENTAX K5D MARK II or PENTAX K1D MARK IV level coming...

Please don't downgrade the high iso performance of cameras such as the KX. Mine at 1600 has much more definition and barely noticeable shadow noise compared to my Nikon D40 at 200. Will check against the D5000 when I have time.
Image quality, especially colour, is a Pentax strength.
This is nice, reassured, but predictable. If a big company (i.e. Toyota) bought a small premium company (i.e. Maserati) do anyone think thay they will drop the premium name? Absolutely NO.
