Latest Ricoh Imaging Financial Results (Q1 of 2011 to Q1 of 2013) - RED

See:-

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1036&message=42476415

Quoted, "According to some sources Ricoh paid Hoya US $128 million for Pentax. However, according to Ricoh, it's cost was JPY 15 Billion (US $193,844,410) expressed as net sales loss with no income.

From this March 2012 Consolidated Results Statement PDF:
http://www.ricoh.com/IR/data/pre/pdf/h23q4_con.pdf#page=4"
And see the losses of almost all the RP imaging products, either consumer or professional, Ricoh or Pentax. In particular, the Pentax camera products have never got any net profit but only net losses, till Q1 of the financial year 2012/13 the latest and as shown!

Well, how long could Ricoh bear such losses, especially for the Pentax imaging division? What *should* they really do? :-o

No THIS time is when they fail...... ugggghhh. Really how boring
And it's going to get worse:
Pentax's nightmare just arrived: http://www.dpreview.com/news/2012/09/13/Nikon-D60...
D600, only $2099.

Wake up Pentax.

a new FF D600 with Wi-Fi, it would want to get new users ... and FF without Wi-Fi I think not ... This is direction for Pentax Ricoh, to keep old user and catch new ... but it need time for organisation Pentax and Ricoh people and for developing new interesting and unique products ...

yeah ... sure.

is there a better aps-c Dslr than k-5 available right now...? sounds like No.
if k-5II is even better then ... what's the problem?

maybe they should have painted it yellow, new grip, new-but-not-better sensor, new popup flash cap, name it K-4 and VOILA , new stuff... NEED IT

like nikon did from d80 to d90, d300 to d300s...
damn , maybe nikon is doomed since then???

OMG

i dont know what to do...

come on rice, what do you intend to do with all that "doomed thing" ?

Some misinterpretations here. According to Ricoh's report (top of page 3), the acquisition of Pentax brought JPY15bn of turnover (additional turnover, not turnover loss) and no operating result, thus meaning Pentax was break-even over the period.

As far as the second document is concerned (the "click to enlarge" picture):

- the right half is about the whole "Other" business unit, that includes the photo business, not the sole K-30
- the time period covered by the graph is from Q1 of FY2011/03 (1st quarter of the fiscal year ending in March 2011), i.e. April-June 2010, till Q1 of FY2013/03, i.e. April-June 2012: there is no forecast there
- this "Other" business is indeed loosing money -that's was one of the reasons for Ricoh to acquire Pentax: to strengthen their photo business.
