New D600 DxOMark has been Out

DxO says that it sets the high bar for image sensor quality. Let's see how it is compared against the current line of the Pentax DSLRs! Don't see a K-5II and IIs? I'm afraid Pentax has not yet given a test sample to them earlier. And even though they have already done that, *miracle* for big advancement in the results is NOT expected, by considering that the II and the original I are with the same sensor and even same old image processor!

Well, if one needs some kind of night vision device then D600 should be his/her choice. But if you are just a landscape photographer (like me) - then not necessarily :)

Actually this comparison proofs that K-5 sensor is still one of the best, even when compared to FF.

Pentax think Prime II is better than Prime M for photo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhD5zmJ79Fo&fe...

Cool! I don't see any reasons to buy a Nikon since portrait and landscapes are my priorities. I will keep my K5, and will invest my into a Sigma DP1 Merril which outperforms Nikon D600 adn may be Nikon D800 E for landscape photography :-)

Rice can write down anything here... But Pentax will go on his own way...
Is the noise on the shadow area better with Nikon D600? Thanks

Rice, you are angry. I understand that. But honestly what you write here is unfair.
Just wait a minute and Pentax K-5 II/s will be tested there. It is still pre-production.
You will have probably the reason to write your opinion after this test. And it will be the right time.

To be honest, for 1/3 of the price of the D600 and APS-C against FF, the "old" K-5 is not bad at all

Its only a stop behind the d600 and holds its own in dr. That's pretty impressive.

Please show me just ONE OF YOUR photos taken with pentax gear that would motivate for an expensive FF equipment.
I really want to understand why you are so morosly bashing against (Pentax?) APC cameras.

Not so long ago your site was an inspiring source of information. But now?

GOOD, that's the sensor Pentax likely will use for FF and as always, will get more out of it..(D7000 vs K-5). Great news! BTW, K-5 seems to hold fine vs D600 in practical respect, as it is. Is it still Nikon's new sensor is 6 mo later Pentax's sensor - the old Sony's deal?
Maybe there is a truth in the rumor that Pentax cannot get the FF sensor now, hence no FF body.

Come on Rice, you know Pentax is not capable of manufacturing it's own sensors. It has to depend on someone for that.

While I agree that they should at least say there are plans for it (I guess that's mentioned in the Photokina interviews, somehow), they cannot make a definite commitment if they won't eventually get the sensors.

Let's assume Sony requires 10,000 units to make a deal. Pentax doesn't even know if they can sell all that. And how much do they cost? You don't go in a business to lose money.

Just my two cents.

One more FF with a crippled viewfinder. Too bad! When will they release something with a more decent viewfinder? It has to be MUCH larger than any on APS-C!
Otherwise, no advantage. All other stuff, like more pixels, better noise in high ISO and AF performance (I do not use AF at all) mean nothing to me.

A company whom is unable to respond to the market will die, eventually!
its been a pretty slow mis diagnosed death, good thing your not a doctor....
K5II is a joke.
It's just a stop gap product to help sell Pentax failed products like K-30 and K-01, that failed miserably in the consumer market.

No successful company would release something like K-5II, basically a re-boxed two year old model K-5, and expect customers to buy it.

Rice, it seems that there is an image taken with the K5 II compared to the K5IIs around. You can find it here:

Anyone who reads, believes and takes Rice seriously at this point is not very bright. Rice is obviously not a real photographer and does nothing but create ruckus with Pentax products to get web hits. I encourage everyone to skip this website entirely. It's what I have been doing (yup, even when you see this reply).

yep, +1 someguy...
Dinamic range.
Pentax K-5: 14.1 Evs
D600: 14.2 Evs

The same(almost) dinamic range, but the D600 is arround 3X times expensive than the Pentax K-5 and . With all respect, you have to be very STUPID to go for the Nikon. We even not see the K-5II(s) results yet.
