Pentax Q10 (Possibly FAKE!)

I must have missed something :-(, there is a Pentax Q10! Well, maybe it is just too small! :-D It will arrive in October and to be sold at 35,000 Japanese Yens (roughly equal to US$440) and have the options of Black, Silver and Red. The sensor is in the same size as the original Q, i.e., in 1/2.3", as we can see from the above.

Via Digicame Info (Japanese)

UPDATE: This could *also* be a HOAX! See my latest finding here! :-o

it seems to me BSI CMOS 1/1.7" sensor

What's the point, just a re-hash and re-use of components.

Unless it uses a larger sensor, this product has no point of any at all, its just an interchangeable lens toy afterall!
exactly my thoughts! But if the (brandnew) rumor about a 15-45mm/2.8 for the Q is true, I really doubt they plan to increase the sensor size. If they had liked the option, I think they would have waited releasing a higher spec lens for the Q... which, with a bigger sensor would have a weird focal length range.
Look at DxOMark, you'll see the Q's 1/2.3" BSI CMOS sensor outperforms many of the 1/1.7" sensors cameras including the Nikon P7100 and Olympus XZ-1.

Look at DarwinFish105's timelapse videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pymw8WjDVPA or the many superb Q images around the web. Seems like many disagree that the Q has "no point at all". The point is making images, not studying and comparing specs.
Moreover- people still think it will be the same Q sensor.. as if not improved at all or something. Maybe we should all wait for the official announcement first :-)
If this ugly is not water proof i don't approve.

But the toy is cheaper this time.
Fair enough, but sometimes you need a toys that are indestructible.
if the original has 1/1.7" it will be a much better system. 1/2.3" is too small for photography enthusiasts. The other concern is the performance especially when shooting RAW. It is very slow. Hopefully the Q10 has improved image sensor and speed.

The 1/2.3'' was beating the 1/1.7'' LX5 sensor. I wish people stopped comparing out of a vaccuum pure sensor sizes and realize technology can introduce some variant advantages. here.

The LX7 sensor is smaller than the LX5 sensor, yet it's better too.
The Q already did pretty decent with the sensor it had as it was. Did it occur to any of you this could be a next gen Q 1/2.3'' sensor? Technology doesn't stand still.

Really we are going down this road again, We get it!!! The Q is not for you!!
Who it is for is people who enjoy having fun taking pictures and who don't pixel peep and don't want a large camera , its a novelty!! Its not for me, and its not for everyone!! But it has its place.Period.
Really borders on the pathological

What you say is very true. It just pisses off the rest of us who have invested into the k-mount only to watch Pentax expend resources on toys rather than improving performance on their leading edge products delivered in a timely manner.

I know my patience is wearing thin.
But what if those things you consider toys are making some cash for the firm… so it can stay around making the advancements you want for the camera you want?
