DAL 35 is Full Frame Compatible

Follow the thread and see some sample photos taken with film:-

(in Simplified Chinese, machine-translated English Page Here)

Whilst it is verified that it is 100% Full Frame compatible, it is not that surprised at all as the DA(L)35/2.4 was found to be just a crippled and re-packaged FA35/2 after all.

I really don't like how you say "crippled". It is MODIFIED.

How about "Modded"? ;-)
How about 'a cheaper version of''?
Can we say a Canon 550D is a 'crippled' 50D? Or a D90 is a 'crippled' D300? Ditto with the K-r and K-5 :D

The lens glass diameter is crippled to suit the smaller maximum aperture and hence the slower speed of the new lens (and also to save weight and manufacturer cost as a result). Just see this:-
http://forum.digitalfotonetz.de/viewtopic.php?p=1...

As such, I do believe that "crippled" is actually the right and exact word to describe!
Yes. The pentamirror and the lesser cross type sensors of the of the 550D makes it a crippled 50D.
And I really don't like how you say "DAL". It is DA...

Like your deliberately putting it down already...

Don't you see "fengwei" (aka "frank" something), i.e., the tester and poster whom did and posted this test, did also call the DA35/2.4 as the DAL35 lens! So?
Oh and one more thing... If they just made that same (or almost the same) optical quality available at a cheaper price, should it be something to complain about? Well maybe those who CAN afford premium glass will :)

How about for users like me whom had purchased the FA 35/2 already? What is the meaning of another lens with a copied optical formula and supposedly to be not better optical quality and also a half-stop speed loss?
A cheaper alternative? For the less fortunate? Buy another another model perhaps?
Cheaper (but with good optics) is bad. Choice is bad. Everything is bad, and all the bad things in the world are their fault.
That, if it's about Pentax. If talking about other systems, OTOH... ;)
You don't have a clue if the new 35mm has the same formula as the FA. The diagrams don't tell the full story; e.g. maybe Pentax tweaked the FA's optical design (while keeping the same number of elements/groups and their positions); to make it better or to make it cheaper, or maybe both. Maybe they even started "from scratch", and getting a similar design.
An example is the double Gauss design, used by several 50mm's; e.g. the Pentax 50mm f/1.7 and the Nikkor f/1.8 - don't tell me they are identical...
"Maybe"s.. So, you're just uncertain about everything. The overlaid diagrams tell us that they are almost the same. What facts you actually have to support your claims? Imaginations of your own only?
The proof of burden is entirely yours, since you're the one claiming things. I only claim you have no clue, and that's a fact :p
But maybe you can find out the precise elements shape, positioning&size and also their composition by looking at the overlaid diagrams. I know I can't.
8. Widest aperture is actually faster than F2.4, It's more like a F2.1 to F2.2 lens http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/1227190-post1....
