Clearer K-01 AF Performance Demo Videos

Someone tried it out at the CP+ and this time it shows clearly how fast (or slow) the AF speed of the K-01 could be:-

1. With DA 40mm XS Lens:-

The K-01 seems to focus much faster with the FA 77 than the 40mmm, which although impressive it is a bit odd that an old film era lens would outperform the new lens. Still, while it does not have the blazing speed of the latest M4/3 models, it is pretty good for screw mount lenses and easily as good as the NEX 7. Sorry, I had to rub it in.

Yes, it is unexpected.

Nex-7 (and 5N) are definitely than what was shown in this video
It's actually not that far behind at all. In fact sometimes it did focus faster than the sony (and vice versa)
I really doubt it will be faster than Nex with old screw driven lenses. We will see once imaging-resources posts their AF results.
Here is another video of Nex-7 AF

and that's definitely much faster t
God I hope I can choose from a set of focus points - I don't want the camera choose for me where IT want to focus. I want it to focus where *I* want it to.

Actually, the Japanese tester has commented in the first YouTube page that the selection of the focus point by the camera is considered weird.
very good, so my FA35 plan seams will work
i guess it's faster with the 77 because of the bigger aperture, that make it easier for the body to detect contrast.

Good point, yet it just still seems so odd to me that an old film era lens would focus so fast with contrast detect and screw drive.
I think it is more because of the shallower DoF, with a longer focal and bigger aperture.
Is there a white border around the sharp object?

It looks like so!
That actually focuses pretty fast. Interesting. I wonder if they will be able to speed it up by the time it's full production firmware.
