This looks really cool! What a marketing! Plus the camera looks cool by itself! But still with the 4/3 sensor and the 2X crop factor, I don't have very high expectation on the IQ, though~

Everything the K-01 is *NOT*, and I LOVE it.
Compared to this well engineered camera, K-01 felt like 'what can we re-use from our parts bin" and minimise production cost.
Hoya really ran Pentax DRY.

It does seem so, as indicated by little Pentax was sold to Ricoh for, just a little over $100m.

This Olympus has lots of nice lenses already and lots of flash units. A weather sealed flash, grip and battery pack too.

Let's hope there is a K-mount adapter : )
Since going to ILDC (before K-01) always meant you have to adopt a new mount anyway, I am very tempted by this Oly.
Wow...:[ Is is ugly
i don't like focus by wire
also probably high price

$999 body only, 1099/1299 with lens kit, *Not* that expensive compared to K-01 considering the extra features
Not expensive. This E-M5 is actually cheap just on its own merits, even if you consider just the hardware components, i.e. the weather sealing, the mag alloy body,, all those control dials and Fn buttons, the articulated OLED touch screen, and the 1.44 MP viewfinder. Add the other features and considerations like the new 5-way IS, the fast if not fastest AF that also does fast tracking, the availability of weathersealed grip and battery pack and multiple weathersealed lenses, dedicated and high quality lenses that are available right away, and it should be clear this is the new small mirrorless camera to beat. I suspect the sacrifice in image quality compared to the best of APS-C cameras is more than offset by all the other benefits for most shooters. As long as the test results show it has at least as good image quality as the Panasonic GX1, it will fly off the shelves. I hope it does and I hope it saves Olympus.
K-01 will cost less with higher image quality (APS-C), and better DOF control.

This often touted DOF control in a larger sensor is over-emphasised as a benefit in this comparison. While you gain in bokeh in portraits, you lose in depth of field in landscape shooting or when low light and or motion forces use of a larger aperture and too shallow depth of field in quick candid shooting. As more fast lenses become available for M43, even the benefit in getting shallow DOF and good bokeh is diminishing. For example, Olympus has the 45mm f/1.8 and soon the 75mm f/1.8 for portraits. While they are similar to Pentax ones, the difference is they can AF quickly, while there seems to be an issue with the Pentax 77mm or 50mm focusing quickly on the K-01. Besides, the Nokton 25mm f/0.95 and also the new Nokton 17.5mm f/0.95 lenses will though expensive compensate for any loss of bokeh for M43. Expensive but at least there is an option, an option not available to K-mount K-01 since those lens makers do not support Pentax any more. On the contrary, Tokina, Tamron and also Carl Zeiss joined the M43 club and will continue to make lenses for M43. Then there is also the ability to use via adapters other old lenses, Leica, Cosina, whatever, even Pentax lenses, on a M43, which seems impossible for the K-01 except for some screw mount lenses. So, the K-01 does have higher image quality, when you can find the right lens for it and when it can focus fast enough with that lens to get the picture. The lens situation will only get better for M43 later. I am afraid the K-01 is too late and too little, although it may be great for those with a lot of K-mount lenses, but it is totally uncompetitive with any of the competing mirrorless cameras.
But the K-01 still has higher image quality. Better ISO, better DR.

Not saying the EM5 is bad, because it isn't, but it's not the obvious slam dunk you make it be in this comparison.
It is well specified for sure, a nice camera. And Olympus will have a lineup of weather sealed lenses too that will most likely be awesome optically. To me I disagree that it is a better camera than the K-01. Just trade offs. The K-01 will be capable of better image quality than the Olympus at a lower price with better focal depth. The Olympus will have faster focusing, great JPEG engine, great build and good lens options. The Pentax has focus peeking , the latest HDR and a built in flash. The Olympus has the nice EVF and tilt screen, although upcoming Pentax mirrorless will likely have those features too. Again you are going for the system and sensor size rather than specific features on a body. The bodies change, the sensor size does not.

You have some good points, but they can be misleading. Sensor size does not change but sensor quality changes and it gets better and better. Already we have APS-C cameras approaching FF quality (until the new D800 type of cameras with new sensors come), and M43 cameras approaching what was the APS-C quality. While the difference in size and therefore quality will always remain, what any user will have to consider is how much quality is enough for himself and at what cost in terms of dollars, size and weight to carry. Otherwise, go for a FF camera. The next Olympus most likely will also have focus peeking, and an improved sensor and therefore IQ. To me the main difference that matters unless you make huge prints a lot, is the lenses. Even assuming that the K-01 will get an EVF separately or in an updated model, there is still a question mark regarding how fast existing Pentax lenses can AF on the K-01, or whether new lenses designed for this camera will be needed.

Also there is a question about the lens availability. Will Pentax release a 400mm lens? or something like the M43 7-14mm ultra wide zoom soon? or something like an affordable but superb olympus 45mm fr/1.8 portrait lens? Their 75mm f/1.8 lens, 12mm f/2, 60mm macro, and all those other M4/3 lenses that are dedicated to and can AF fast on the E-M5?
Agreed, also, Focus peeking can be implemented in software, which means potentially a new firmware release can add that feature.
But the truth is Olympus micro four thirds seems stuck with years old Panasonic tech.
2x crop was a mistake and so is APS-C. It's 2012. 24x36mm only. None of this crop sensor cameras are competitve with the D800.

Yes, I'd like to see you hike the Grand Canyon or Yosemite trail with the D800 in tow.
You miss a lot of points friend! For street life for example *you don't want* to shoot with a D800. Ditto for long hikes. There's a set of pros and cons.
I like how it looks without the grips. Please make one like this Pentax! An LX-D (maybe full frame too??)
BTW the video is now "Private".

That's funny for the uploader to tag it as private, as it should be able to find it elsewhere by now. (But I just won't bother to search anymore~)
A nice quick run down of the features in this video:

sorry, I don't want such results

size, construsction and features - maybe good, but IQ is a level a bit higher than Nikon 1.
