Photography Blog K-01 Hands-on Photos

There are plenty of K-01 + different Pentax lenses photos:-

http://www.photographyblog.com/news/pentax_k-01_hands-on_photos/

But one thing I just wonder, it is how to hold and shoot with those telephoto lenses when they are put on the K-01? That must be the most challenging task ever for a tele-photographer! It could be even more difficult to shoot birds in flight (my last example works here), I bet! :-o Good luck, potential K-01 users!! ;-p

I like this camera. Great design, very distinctive. I heard that the IQ is better than the K5! Amazing.
Actually it shouldn't be that hard to hold. One hand on the camera and another on the lens. Like *many* other cameras in the past and present actually.

It is held like P&S but does not have the small size of those DCs or not even other existing mirrorlesses!
Other mirrorless cameras are even more out of balance than this. ;) You have a thin slab of plastic/metal with not much of a grip and a huge lens mounted to it. At least this one has a bigger grip, so it should be easier to hold. ;)
Yes, the grip is bigger, which should actually be described as thicker, but not deeper!
Actually that is true, without that viewfinder you must hold it away to frame your shots. With that weight and questionable grip, how will that work? Even if you use the left hand to hold onto the lens it will be even more difficult to hold it away from you to view the screen rather than holding it up to your eye as is done with DSLRs. Yeah, this will not work very well for bigger telephoto zooms. Forget birding with it. Oh well, bring on the new DSLRs Pentax and hurry.
No, as I said, you put one hand on the grip, another on the lens. what part of this is so difficult to get.
Still larger than my Pentax film full frame...

A combination ugliest of ugly
I agree Ricehigh in missing a Viewfinder.

I´ve bought the Q which has same issue.
The optional Optical Viewfinder from Pentax is ugly big and 49mm only.

Therefore I added a cheaper OVF from RICOH which is smaller, looks way better and has frame for 28mm with additional frame-markers for 50mm . (RICOH  GV2)

I think PENTAX should try next time a little bit harder!
Birds in flight with this camera... Ha ha ha ha ha

Definitely NOT that kind of camera.

This camera was designed for retards...

Wtf is it trying to be?
In my mind it is a entry level experiment... Interchangeable lens with kmount is nice but leave off a viewfinder????
Ok, please tell me how many birders are clamoring for a Pen or NEX? Different cameras have different functions. No one is using a NEX for motocross.

Monopod or tripod. I shot video of a football game with a Kx and a Sigma 170-500, using a monopod, and it worked fine. If this does the focusing for me, well then all I have to worry about is zooming.

yes exactly... I am a birder and will certainly not be buying this camera. The only product Pentax has which is vaguely there is the K5... however in some situations the K5 is not good enough... I can use a friend of mines 1DIV and am able to get shots that I know I could never get with the Pentax...

I can give you reasons why I could never use this for birding:
1. AF is way too slow
2. No viewfinder
3. Slow to refresh LCD, too slow to track very fast moving objects, EVF has same issue. Only OVF works for tracking BIF.
4. LCD cannot be used in bright lighting situations, the glare on the screen would be too much and you would have to shoot blind
5. As this is clearly a beginner, entry level camera, the buttons and features are designed as such, so not much control here.

If this camera works for you, buy it... then at least there should be more money to develop a nice pro level D4 equivalent!!

Personally I think its great that Pentax is still developing new products but this one is definitely NOT for me.
Who cares about how to hold this thing ? ;) The goofballs demanded and received their mirrorless camera. Now but it !
