I think I'm going to buy the lens first, to be used on my existing Pentax DSLR, and maybe later, buy the camera, that is if there is any truth to the rumors that the K-01 can take better pictures than the K-5 :)

The real tricks this camera can do are focus reliably under tungsten light, avoid needing micro adjustment for font/back focus, and never have mirror flop spasms. Also, I get to use my favorite aspect ratio (1:1) for the first time ever with my Ltds. Since I value taking photographs more than what people think of me when I'm taking photographs, I pre-ordered immediately. $750 U.S. - not bad at all for the above tricks, plus shake reduction and K-5 image quality!

I looked at the above images for awhile before I realized how very useful it would be to stand a camera like this on a table, or whatever, any way it could go. How can this be a bad design?

Some important details

Pentax has confirmed to me that the K-01 will offer autofocus during video recording. However, speaking of focusing, one thing that I am happy to report is that the K-01 uses the same focus-peaking manual focus assist as is found on the Ricoh GXR Leica M module. That system is one of the best I have seen for using manually lenses on digital bodies. I think we’ve all wondered when we might start to see some of the benefits of the Ricoh-Pentax merger, and I would say that this is one of them.

The red button and green buttons are both customizable, though the red defaults to “movie record” from the factory (and most of us will probably leave it that way).

This trick to put the camera on its side unfortunately will not work with a strap attached, or with a heavier lens.

My best friend is professional director (producer), his camera man never use AF with cameras which MUCH MORE expensive than NEX...:)
It seems to me it's irrelevant to talk about AF in video mode in so cheap cameras.

If you want to make HQ video - need to have ability to shoot with manual focus. If you want to shoot video just for fun, it's more easy to buy consumer videocamera. DSLR with AF in video is no good. K-01 is not DSLR. Mirrorless cameras are better in video mode with AF than DSLR.
