A7R Vs A7 Complete ISO Crop Comparisons

(in Chinese)

Test pictures were made with the same FE35/2.8 Zeiss lens and then pictures from both cameras were resized to 4,000 pixels in width and then cropped.

It seems the A7R really shines here, for both image details and noise, i.e., both are better than the A7!

In addition, it is highlighted that the A7R has some special new features including special designed micro lens per pixel to tackle diffraction and 4k video output for still image display. Well, on paper, it is shown to be quite attractive, also.

I'm surprised to see a lens for less than $1000 with that much resolving power, but I still don't want to be locked into buying only Sony lenses because of the offset pixel/micro-lens design after seeing the video we all waited for including Rice! I'd take the 24mp A7 instead of the 36mp A7R so I could use any manual focus lenses including the 55mm Zeiss, I can't believe they didn't make the EVF removable so it will fit in a coat pocket (with a pancake lens) and be upgradable!
" special designed micro lens per pixel to tackle diffraction"
Really ?
I think you'll find they are to tackle poor border sharpness and vignetting from the short registration distance !
