New Product Images of the "Ricoh" K-3 and A "New" Red Ring DA HD 55-300 WR Lens

So, it once again proves that my first leaked specs of the K-3 dated back to Sept 22nd is correct and there is a new phone jack but not only the mic jack against the previous K-5 series.

Nonetheless, I am disappointed with an once-again refurbished lens by Ricoh and the new red ring and colour is indeed awful and just makes the lens looks ugly and worse! >:-(

Not stolen, rather bought. Personally I don`t care what is written on the back of new K-3. Rather I hope it will be great K5 replacement for me.

It is plain stupid for they to "silently" replace the Pentax logo on the back under the LCD and this won't help them to do better marketing wise!

If I would be a brand owner I would like to put my logo on my new product. It`s normal. Pentax brand is really lucky - we can still see big name one the front of camera. But take a look any "new Minolta" cameras. What you will see? Sony... New owner new rules. At last quality of product is the most important for us (in my opinion). Name is just a sentiment - nothing more. And good photographer can take a pictures with Nike shoe box ;) And what about Ricoh? They have also good tradition as a camera producers in the past. They released very nice GR model last time. Untill is no watermark "RICOH" on the pictures taken with Ricoh/Pentax cameras I`m happy to use it.

Sony is a far more popular brand name than Minolta. It's obvious why they would use "Sony" instead of Minolta. Ricoh and Pentax are both generally unknown brands to general public outside of a small group.

As for name, "Pentax" is just a brand name owned by the company called Ricoh. Just as Canon uses the brand name "powershot" ; Samsung phones are known by "Galaxy" and so Ricoh now has the right to use the brand name "Pentax"

Pentax is not some independent intetity. It's a brand name.

so what ? It's a standard, the original 55-300 was not bad at all for that kind of range, and they decide to improve it. Where is the problem ?

I had the 55-300mm lens. I sold it because it was APS-C and I have the DA300 now, which is way better and with these zooms you always use the long end anyways. No upgrade from me. I agree, bad choice.

Disappointing. Lipstick on an APS-C pig. They'll jack the price too.

Yup APS-C does suck. especially the MSRP > $1200 . For a few hundred more, a Nikon D600 is a better choice + a cheapo Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 to go with it. The D600 is still cheaper than a new K3 and a "bag full of primes".

So it is a POS re-hashed APS-c camera the best thing about it is at least its not named K-5- XXIV that was getting old.

Maybe it's a culture thing that young Japanese don't lug around big ass DSLRs. And Pentax/Ricoh doesn't have/own the tech for FF minimization like Sony does, we will see more of this APS-C coming from Pentax/Ricoh. For people outside of Japan, we are just irrelevant to their business model. Sony is coming out with a NEX FF and it will pretty much be GAME OVER for Pentax. Somebody ought to convince Sony to make a PK mount for their NEX line up.

Camera looks really nice in these images! We knew that the name Ricoh would appear somewhere. Eventually it will say Ricoh-Pentax on the front , and then just probably Ricoh with Pentax on the back.. No one should be surprised when it happens. Every time you look at your pictures on that K-3 LCD you will be conditioned to think Ricoh, Ricoh, Ricoh.... Rice you are right about that weird shade of red band on the lens. Very ugly. Ricoh red looks unoriginal and cheap.
