Just as predicted, it is more or less of the same quality as the D7100. Which is more than good enough.

Exactly! for an average aps-c shooter, the Nikon D7100 + tamron 18-270mm + sigma 18-35mm f1.8 + tokina 11-16mm f2.8 is pretty much done. There is much more versatility to pick Nikon + third party lenses and also more economical. However, for Pentaxians with a legacy of FA lenses, Sony A7 + cheapo Chinese adapters to save your life!

Thanks Rice, now I don't feel such a need to unbox my (1 of 2000) camera unless I get it in time for Halloween (i.e. a trick or treat present) or in time for my birth-day, it being the first piece of equiptment I've bought as a present for myself. It will give me time to ponder if I deserve such an expense and use it over the holidays, or is it more prudent to invest in the FF-DSLR I need @ 3 grand +.

Just curious, since monetary restrictions seem to be of no concern to you: what system are you using mainly? And for what kind of photography (mainly)?
BTW: I appreciate the link, but prefer "real life" tests to lab tests. That is because ergonomics, internal JPG engine, build quality, etc etc are in practice also relevant, not just the sensor RAW files.

Side note: I never shoot RAW only, and on rare occasions RAW+JPG, because I don't want to force myself to post-process every image. Because of that, the excellent Pentax JPG engine (e.g., auto white balance) is a major selling point for me, as are the many fun features associated with it. IMO, the out-of-camera JPGs count more than the RAWs for a body comparison. RAW comparisons are (at least in theory) just comparing sensors...

I use Pentax SLRs (based on the 35mm film plain) solely, with mainly wide angle lenses (as opposed to limiting myself to portraiture) evan though my 50mm f/1.2 has inherent benefits from the 1.5 lens. Also I always have enough SDHC card space to save in Adobe.DNG evan at 14bit color space as opposed to JPEG @ 8 bit but often save as both 16mp RAW + 6mp JPEG so I can see at a glance on any computer when I have changed topics. I find it quick and easy to set my computer to convert RAW files to JPEGS then walk away for a few minutes, and I hear I don't need my Adobe PhotoShop CS-6 Extended or LightRoom 5. P. S. Now I'd like to ask you something! P. S. S. Don't use this as a chat room!!!

I just got an eMail from Sigma with a typo in the link that made me think (half-think) their new FF Zoom was 24-105mm f/1.4 but it's F/4.
Don't worry once my K-3 has reached me, I will be too busy to chat here :-)

It looks like I won't have my K-3 on my Birth-Day but if anyone likes to capture RAW files in 14bit color depth B&H has the Pentax K-3 in stock @ http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1007545-REG.... or you can save $200 on either Pentax K-5 @ http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/searchatclk=Brand_P...

P. S.
If you want to extend the factory warranty an additional 2 years for $20 you must buy it at the same time as the camera (last item under accessories), please read the details.

I hear you, and appreciate it when you voice your opinion in such maner on my post, but doubt if that's the reason for the minus 7 on my post about a typo that made me take a second look at a lens that sounded to good to be true. Me thinks such mischief twas "the boy who cried wolf" creating said fray.
Hi, I am a novice camera user of Pentax from year 1984 onwards.I am still wondering how Nikon and Canon can make a commercial market share compared to pentax.I have gone through your older articles which seems to be very negative about pentax. It took some time to understand that you speak truth and analyse subjects.

I have a friend who makes analytical comments on the blogs and kicked out of the blogs aggregator. But still his writings wins hearts of many bloggers.

Ultimately the articles speaks of your hardwork and love for pentax.Keep going.Thanks.

True, Rice converted a Canon 5-D to take his Pentax glass instead of taking advantage of the current market prices to switch to new lenses for whatever camera best fits his wants and needs. He is also an Electronics Engineer who gladly shares his Educated Guess time and time again, in spite of being mocked and ridiculed on his own Web-Site by those (many of which would get booted of other sites) preferring to take wild eyed guesses at what's in store for the future. All anyone needs to do is google whatever catches their eye and they'll be enlightened as to the good points of their style of photography and why their choice of gear is well suited for their needs.
Rice never lies, and he rarely is in error. But he does amplify negative news and ignore positive news about Pentax.
A perfectionist who loves his favorite brand to death.

The costumer is always right. Better yet, a paying costumer is always right. If not, the costumer takes his business elsewhere. The K3 has just been released in North America and I wondered for how long before a price drop like the K01. Nikon is coming out with a FF MILC and more competition is on the way. Ricoh/Pentax has its head in the sand and probably on its last breath too.
Simple, who preffer FF will choose Nikon, the ones who like APS-c, Pentax, that leaves Sony APS-Cs and AR7s on shelf stores.

Time for the full frame from Pentax. They can "be different" by releasing one with the best viewfinder on the market. A viewfinder comparable to the old manual focus DSLRs. Enough with the mirrorless experiments. Leave the mirrorless for the 645D. APS-C is done. Nikon has assured it.

The FM2 is ridiculously priced. It should be 1500 not 3000. The RX1 is a better bet. Nikon made a mistake with the FM2 price. They need to get these full frames under 1500. Why so much talk about other cameras? Well, the new Pentax is just another APS-C camera. Been there done that. As the first poster said, same as the D7100. Yawn..

Static test shots are a poor way to compare cameras
