First Full Samples of the A7 and A7R Betas (with ISO Test Samples)

I follow what Adam of PF is doing and would like to post more A7/R first tests and news! ;-p

The following article is really worth a look, it is unique as there are various full samples posted including a complete ISO series:

http://www.eprice.com.hk/dc/talk/1433/3951/1/
(for A7, in Chinese)

Well, while noise is really low at high ISO speeds, I am afraid that the noise reduction applied is too strong, causing too much detail loss as a result. As for the A7R, ISO test crops are posted in the following:

http://www.dcfever.com/sony/readnews.php?f=1&id=9212
(for A7R, in Chinese)

It can be seen that the loss of details is even worse! It seems that the strong NR kicks in from ISO 1600 and upward. So, 36MP might still be too many the pixels for a 135 Full Frame sensor!

Besides, I am not quite impressed with the skin tone and the colour rendition in general. It's surely a Sony that can be easily seen, of which the style and taste are well known to me, whom is also a Sony user! :-)

Strange, but those images do not make a big impression.
Thanks for the links! The a7 samples look amazing. I'm 90% that this is going to be my next camera, should I be able to amass the necessary funds next year.

If you think these samples stand out, I wonder what you photograph with? An iPhone?

They don't look amazing. Detail smearing is evident. We must wait for the lightly post processed raw sample before concluding. But from what I see now, they look worse than their competition (6D or D600.)
so, the miracle it's over?

As I said in previous topic: good camera for a Sony fans (but not for a Pentax lovers). ;)

The only thing the examples proof is that the person that has taken them, is not a photographer. Is this blog becoming a Sony hangout?
My chinnese is zero ! :)
Ridiculous, ugly camera. Average (read: mediocre) pictures.
Nothing a Pentax-user could long for.

I think the camera body looks great. Turn the noise reduction down. Put some old M or K series SMC Pentax glass on that baby and I bet the images you get will blow your mind!

It's nice to see Adam agree with the post I made yesterday, regarding the resolving power of 36mp going to waste while giving Sony a problem with noise to overcome, which in turn lead to the problem created by Micro-Lens/Offset-Pixel design instead of being Back-Light. As I said yesterday the registration distance is so short evan a Leica lens would block light if you use an adapter let alone use a Zeiss 55mm lens, unless you buy the 24mp A7 or only use Sony FE lenses on the 36mp A7R. Hear's hoping Sony FE lenses have the resolving power needed to justify Sony having a monopoly on your wallet!!!
Pleas note that the K-3 has a Sony sensor. The sensor isn't the whole camera obviously, but it is the central component. So buy the K-3 and become another happy Sony customer, or switch completely to Sony manufactured cameras. Either way you will be using Sony products.

While your statement is true, let me point out that the Know-How needed to manufacture sensors is _completely_ different from the know-how needed to manufacture a camera body. So it is very well possible that the best camera in the world has a Sony sensor but not a Sony body.

A Pentax pancake lens would work great on the Mirrorless camera I was hopping for with removable IGZO/EVF (so it fits in my coat pocket), it would need the 24mp FF image sensor (Sony/Nikon) (so it can use the latest Zeiss, Schneider, Hartbleu lenses instead of just Sony FE lenses) and USB-3.1!

This might take the wind out of some sails. Time will tell how lenses really perform on this sensor.

It's a Sony! Every Sony camera I've had has managed to ruin the sensor output with brutal noise control.
Lots of hype so far and I admit the camera looks like a game changer, but I will wait for the lab tests first. Looks like Sony is waiting to see how well this line does and then rethink the NEX and Alpha lines. This may be a platform that I move to, but require tough weather ruggedness for my work.
These Sony cameras look like the best cameras ever made for using M and K series Pentax glass. (MF with an adapter of course)

Shame on Ricoh-Pentax for letting someone else get there first.
For 4 years I use Leica M9, digital FF, and small, with a beautiful image quality (not so harsh as the Sony's). Why all that fuzz about Sony?

Obvious. Unlike your LeicaM9, it doesn't cost $7995.00!! That's the big deal! BTW, don't ever sell you M9 if it is original. CCD gives better image quality at low ISO.
