Pentax SR is Not Yet Conforming to the New CIPA Standard for Image Stabilization Performance

See what our knowledgeable ex-Pentaxian (now a Nikon D800 user), Falk Lumo (aka Falconeye, who is an engineer I believe), has reported yesterday at the PF:-

http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/general-photography-industry/229561-pentax-cipa-shake-reduction-efficieny-published.html

It is reported that according to the new CIPA standard, more precise description on the IS (SR) performance must be specified. Whilst Nikon has already updated their specifications for their products, Pentax has not yet done that so far, and the descriptions of the SR performance of products are clearly not complying to the new Standard and the latest requirements of the CIPA,  which Pentax is still a member of the Body, Right? Nope? Because "Pentax" the Company is just Non-Existent Now?! >:-o

I knew Ricoh would shake up the indistry like this when they dressed Pentax in fruity colors put them on a corner, rather than dress-up a Ricoh like that (for fear of the fashion police). But I'll still buy a Full Frame DSLR with a K-Mount (in black) when Pentax is never more and it's Ricoh's Swan Song !!!

Let's look at the modern (Pentax) Ricoh product line: gadgets, gadgets, gadgets.
What is the DSLR with a K-mount you are talking about? Where it will come from?! :(

Sorry, what is Full Frame DSLR with a K-mount?
You are right; Pentax could never have been a member of CIPA because Pentax is a registered trading brand name and a trading mark, not a company.
It's same as wanting iPad or iPod, registered product brand names, to become part of IEEE or W3C instead of Apple Inc. It's not possible, it's ludicrous. Standards are supported by member organisations and companies and Pentax is not one.
Rice, you cannot read the fine print.....the link you point to is for optical system image stabilization. Pentax uses sensor-based systems. From the intro of the standard:

"This standard applies to digital cameras for consumers with an optical image stabilization function for still image shooting."

I demand you change the title of this post, as you are factually incorrect.

No matter a lens element is moved or the whole sensor is moved, it is NOT "electronic stabilisation"!
So show me that Sony, the other sensor-based stabilized system, is complying....or Canon.....

Admit you are wrong
The new CIPA standard and requirement is good. It shows more clearly how the mechanical IS will perform.

Falk proved that Nikon has put effort to update their specs so as to comply with the new standard, but Pentax has not yet done so.
So show me that Sony, Canon, Olympus, or others have shown they complied. I am particularly interested in Sony, since they are sensor-based, and I read the standard as for optics, or lens-based systems.

Stop pointing to what Falk said in a Pentax Forums post...YOU are the one who put it on your blog site. Prove to me its not for lenses only, that it includes sensors as well......
I just point to the fact that Nikon's site only lists lenses, and the CIPA report, on page 5 I believe, says that electronic stabilization in not subject to this new standard.

Change the headline, and update your post to be factually correct, otherwise you are lying.

Read again what Falk has briefed about before you blamed on me.
@daedbird: let him alone, for him what a nikonian says is a law!

I can't believe so many of you come to his site and rag on him, (claiming you don't understand him isn't a sign of intelligence) you do deserve to have small children look at your hidious two tone Ricoh K-50 and laugh, I on the other hand bought lens covers (dog, owl & shutterbug) to get them to smile.
Pentax SR is Not Yet Conforming to the New CIPA Standard for Image Stabilization Performance.
I've just read a test (SLR camera) on a Nikon 80-400, where the testers say that they found at 400mm the IS was almost non-existent or unreliable,I didn't see any claim by Nikon to that effect!
All my lens are stabilized with SR! I'm hardly likely to buy new stabilized Nikon lenses and Body just because of some CIPA rating, Really what non-sense!
