Official Pentax Q Samples are Out!

http://www.pentax.jp/japan/products/q/ex.html

(in Japanese, English Here (machine-translated))

All the posted sample images are RAW converted in-camera, as indicated and all the four samples were taken at f/2.8 near wide-opened (possibly by one f-stop closed down of the lens for somehow better optical output of the lens but yet NOT to stop down further so as to avoid diffraction, which affects the final resolution).

Do note the underexposure tendency of this production Q nonetheless, I just can't think out why the second girl face photo should require a +EV of 1.3 stops as the exposure compensation factor! >:-o

As for the bokeh we see, I am not sure if it is created with the Fake Bokeh Filter, a built-in software function of the Pentax Q.

Those shots are pretty good for such tiny sensor !
Kudos to Pentax, if the price lower to 450€, it could be mine.

They will not lower the price in the foreseeable near future, unless there is really no one or very few people to buy!
They look a bit over-processed to me, but they surely are sharp. As to the claimed underexposure tendency, I see no fault with a fair-skinned subject requiring +1.3EV of exposure compensation if the photographer used spot or centre-weighted metering. Skin like that is typically around 1EV lighter than middle grey so +1.3EV seems about right.

They used evaluative metering.

Some colours in the photos, while pleasing, do look a bit fake to my eyes. Besides, the skin texture could look a bit plasticky, although the problem is not too severe.
No AA filter
No AA filter is actually needed as the diffraction limit has been exceeded for most of the time and the Nyquist frequency could never be exceeded.
For suck a microscopic sensor, the samples are amazing! Lower end DSLR quality at low ISO, no doubt although the price is too high.
