The procedures are shown clearly and it is carried out in a professional manner.

Besides, there is a guide for how to check and try to repair a Pentax MZ film body that had its mirror locked up in the following thread:-

The mirror locked up issue is actually a common issue amongst those MZ bodies, which would show up after some years of use, including mine. I shall try to open the bottom of my locked MZ to check and do it myself later, when I have the time. These cameras are not supported by my local Pentax service centre anyway, I bet. Their usual excuse was that "the body was discontinued for more than ten years ago and the required spare part is not available anymore."! >:-(

if i'm not misunderstanding, that issue is common for MZ bodies, i already saw an english thread somewhere where they replace the part (plastic wheel) by a metal one (brass), witch can be purchased from some RC cars spare parts manufacturer , and it fits perfectly.

I found that thread while i was searching for a Mz3 and foud some bad issues like the one you talked about.

Unfortunately, i didnt bookmarked that thread ...
I hope you'll fix your MZ then give an instructions on how to fix it... I have a Z-1, a great camera, but the mirror locked up... =(

I will try for sure, but only when later on I have the time.

Even the fault is located, I am afraid I could not find the replacement part - same problem for asking Pentax to repair it! >:-(

The MZ bodies use plastic gearing to drive the shutter/mirror linkage. After time or misuse the gearing breaks. The same happens to modern DSLRs. The problem is that nearly all manufacturers have stopped stocking film camera parts. To the best of my knowledge, nobody in North America has parts for even the legendary Canon EOS 1n. That said, I know of a few places in Canada with access to parts for the good old K1000.
