De-crippling the K-mount - An Upkeeping Petition at the Pentax Forums

http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-dslr-discussion/200075-pentax-ricoh-de-cripple-k-mount-petition.html

Two hundred and something Pentaxians have signed. But I bet the proposition will NOT be entertained as Pentax has never listened nor made any response of course. So, it's just a waste of time, frankly! >:-(

In fact, I have requested this for years now. I think I do have a stronger/louder voice already than an average typical individual Pentaxian, don't I? :-)

Could you change you blog name to RiceHigh's Anti Pentax Blog to stop being misleading.

Boy, this petition is posted at the Pentax Forums, which is the web's number 1 affiliated site with the official Pentax!

So, what do you think this time?

I bought another 50mm f/1.2 lens so I could use it (unhindered) without the green button, it's a lot cheaper than buying another 135mm f/1.8 or 35mm f/1.4 but not as nostalgic.
We have to beg for full frame, we have to beg for an aperture ring coupler, we have to beg for ultrasonic driven lenses, is it worth it ?

Nope, it isn't!
Well, we are getting FF. We probably are getting sonic motors too. To me, I guess I would rather have audio monitoring capabilities (EQ on screen, or maybe even a headphone port) before I need a decrippled mount.
Can someone really tell me the benefit of what a decrippled mount would mean? I can see the benefit of an aperture ring on the lens (having cut my teeth with an ME Super decades ago) But I do not know how the crippled Ka mount really cripples me.

I can use an aperture ring on my camera now, although the camera would not read what I have it set at (nice for EXIF data, but not something I think I pine over). I can see that need to read for aperture priority, but then again I could lock in the aperture with the camera itself. So, the big issue would be with pre-A lenses.

Is there more to the crippled Ka mount? I am interested to find out where this ranks as far as things that should be a priority, what I am missing with this. I find I would rather make sure all cameras have a front and rear control rings more than whether or not the mount was not crippled, or continue to have wireless flash capabilities, or even a fullframe option over whether or not my camera allows me to use an exterior aperture ring.....But if I am missing something more, I would like to be informed....

for Pentax: no. The few customers who want to use their old lenses do not help at all.
for us: Sigma8-16, DA15mm, DA21mm, FA31, DA40, FA501.7, FA77, DFA100WR, DA*60-250mm .... no
FA31, FA50 1.7, FA 77 these are old lenses, don't use them.
You don't need "de-crippled" mount to use them.

Sorry, no. There is no benefit. And there are no benefits for ricehigh's few photos.

Pentax has only one benefit: http://www.lenstip.com/315.11-Lens_review-Pentax_...
"Pentax is one of few companies which treats the smaller sensor seriously. Perhaps they don’t produce very fast instruments (and it’s a shame) but we are given something else. Exactly this producer decided, in a very consistent way, to develop a system of small reflex cameras to which you can attach equally small lenses. The Pentax smc DA 21 mm f/3.2 AL Limited fits this policy perfectly well."

I have quite some of those DA lenses, but if one wants to get higher performance, those lenses can't serve the purpose! They are just easy to carry and with acceptably good image quality. However, they are usually slow and are not excellent in term of IQ.
