Wow, the ISO 1600 of the 5D3 is more detailed and less noisy than the ISO 400 of the 5D2 for all tests and ditto for ISO 3200 shots Vs 800 ones for the two bodies! Oh, really? :-o

Once again, it's time for me this pity guy to save my money for a new 5D3! ;-D And, the measurbations will never end! :-(

I think 5D3 took USABLE high ISO to a next level and is a new USABLE high ISO KING!!! 12800 ISO have stunning IQ !!! It is way better than anything in the market today! and this making this camera very attractive in 3000$ price range. It looks like it is better investment than NIKON D3s.
Excellent up to ISO 3200!
Great result! Thanks for the link
We should check also d800 reduced size images and compare noise. d800 color resolution is also much higher than 5d3. Di not see that file size is an issue, computers heve evolved in three years and now 70 MB equals 20 MB, modern hdds read 100MB/s and have 64 MB buffers. From the other hand most of us do not use large prints nor we shoot for advertising - 5d2 images allow to zoom 2.5m posters very well with GFractals.

I decided to test Fuji xpro1 d800 and 5d3, the first is an amazing pocketable and probably wipes out k5, 5d2 will be upgraded to 5d3 if metering is close to nikon and af really works in -2EV

Here, in comparison to the 5D are some high ISO samples of Nikon D800 (downsampled to 12MP): http://mansurovs.com/nikon-d800-high-iso-image-sa...
Download and see. Nothing special. Even though the samples are from a preproduction unit, they do not leave a big impression. And when the file size of 36MP images is taken into consideration, the D800 does not even look appealing at all.
Even without looking at the photos, I don't find anything appealing about 36MP. Even the 21MP from the 5d2, i thought, was a little excessive - so i'm glad they didn't go after a MP war.

I think Canon got everything right with the 5d3. Although I'm won't be purchasing it (I still believe the 5d2 is a great camera), I can see why it'll be a desirable camera

Frankly, the 5D3 official images look a bit over-processed to my like. Will see if it could be fine adjusted.
