It is sad that Pentax can make only plastic funny toy cameras, not professional instruments like Canon, Nikon do.

Huh....

Sad part Zebooka is that you appear to have names mixed up (perhaps you think Vivitar or Zorkij or Holga or Pionyr or Zenit or Moskva) and use the name Pentax when you talk.

If Pentax K-5, K-7 or 645D (even old not mag. LX) cameras what are build to -10 Celsius in magnesium body shell are called toys by some (envious folks in Russian Novosibirsk?? - OGL does it now and than too), than why to comment on Pentax at all? Where is ANY shred of reasonable judgment or valid information in "toy" statement?

All that resent non-traditional Pentax marketing is called creative thinking OUT OF THE BOX.

Just take your C & N and keep making pictures... Have fun!...I know I will soon with pre-ordered K-5.. :o)))
Every camera I've ever owned (film and digital) has worked with no problems down to -30 C. This cold-proofed sales pitch is total marketing BS!
Yes, same here. My SF and MZ cameras did work under snowing at below -10 deg. C without any problem. Do note that they were not weather-sealed, neither.
Can't you just see the fun, any publicity that puts a smile on your face is great publicity

THAT is exactly my perspective as well. If it's the "Lego" camera or this here etc - it's all giving Pentax publicity at little cost, while Canikon - and Sony, I have to say, after seeing their Photokina booth - spend BIG dollars.

My girlfriend saw the colorful variety of K-r's - and even our expert Rice High saw the silver K7 and the blue K-x - and they all want to have one. Rice, of course, complaining soon afterwards that Pentax would focus on the wrong things.

Kudos to the Pentax marketing department.

I have done a lot of free PR works for Pentax and Hoya, can't you see it?! ;-D

Yes you have and their affords to make users satisfied deserve it! Just a reminder what it means in real life, dp has shown it clearly when compared "real gear" to "toy" K-x. Looks pretty embarrassing for "big" C, N, O names... http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/pentaxkx/page15.a...
Actually, that looks pretty cool to me. I want one on my 'storm trooper' K-x. Though I can't comment on whether I like the direction in which Hoya/Pentax appears to be heading, I must say that Pentax has some of the coolest accessories for the K-x/K-r line. The only thing I don't like is the fact that none of those accessories are available to people outside the Asia! :(
i wanna put one on my Nikon at work that way the kids will smile when i take their photo. Okay smile look at the Pentax.
its definatley their strategy to make the kx and kr fun cameras. This new Infrared picture transfer should be really cool if you get a group of friends that all own kr's. You take a pictures and share them immediately...Look at what i took, no look at mine. That is really cool. Pentax is really just making a community of pentax users that will laugh and have fun.
that's enough for me, all theses pentax colorful toys are pushing me to nikon, already started to sell my lens.

wow - sell you lens ... you'll get a great non-pentax for that price ;-)
toys usually attract boys...

I love Pentax marketing, instead of buying half a building at Photokina, they decide to produce a couple of gimmicks. Feel sorry for you that you cannot see the fun in this.

BTW. Sony has a lot of toys too... the Playstation for example...
Sony PSes are *real* toys, do you think that Pentax cameras also are? :-)

Btw, I think it does no harm to be toyish just for fun, but please don't forget the serious market! Any new serious prime? any new TC?
