645D and Lens Delayed!

Once again, as that happened for times in the past for Pentax, the excuse of "demand is more than expected" is used - Oh, no, that Typical Old Pentax comes back again! :-(

But how come they only know this when there is only a few days left for the original targeted on-sales day, i.e., May 20? :-0

Huh? How does that delay it? Shortages yes, delay no???

Simple, they would rather have it delayed than shortage! Really brilliant!

Btw, as I have said, it looks like just an excuse to me.
This makes no sense at all. Probably found the cameras have a fault and are scrambling to try and work out a fix.

You would have to be crazy to buy one of the first batches of the 645 - based on the initial QC of recent offerings.
better delay than faulty product

But the first batches of those delayed products were usually faulty, as learnt from the past!
As i remember Leica S2 was also delayed. I think it's a similar situation. Besides what means 3 weeks for a camera that developed since 2002 ;)
I recognize oldy Pentax... :)

They have always high and unexpected demand for great cameras and always have delays.
Not bad news. I see good news here. More sold 645D, more money for MF system. 3 weeks - it's not problem.
Everything is simple. The price for DMF camera is so low, that a lot of Japanese MF users are ready to buy...
Rica, study the MIT Beer Distribution Game. Then you know why things like theese happen.
Sorry, but this "We won't ship cameras until we have enough supply to fill all orders and have an inventory on hand" statement from Hoya is pure BS.

Compare to Apple's recent launch of IPad. If they waited to produce enough units to satisfy all pre-orders, there still would be none in users' hands.

No, something else is behind this delay. What has gone wrong is anybody's guess.

It's silly to compare Ipad and 645D...^)))
Why? Both are electronic items and recently introduced. The iPad has a huge pent-up demand and Apple is selling them as fast as they can make them.

On the other hand we have Pentax. They supposedly have manufactured an initial supply of 645D's, right? But they won't ship/sell any until they can satisfy the demand? Baloney!

My guess is they have found a serious problem with this camera and are scrambling to find a solution. Time will tell - except there will be no news on this subject from Pentax, as usual.
