Next, here is a recent review of the K200D with a DA 18-55 WR (which is not the kit lens btw, but seems to be quite a perfect match):-

Pentax K200D will always be in my heart! Old good quality. Great color.

It was really a good camera at its time but only that it is a bit large and heavier, plus there was not matching WR kit lens to bundle with when it was marketed, which is the true cause for its marketing failure IMHO.

Great cheaper WR body for DA*16-50 & DA*50-135 in 2008. What failure? Nobody had a cheap "kit" WR glass at that time... and not everyone wanted heavier and bigger K20D..

K200D has a nice CCD (K10D) color and did great on outdoors weddings in combo with DA* glass and D-BG3 grip. Any "kit" stuff would only undermined what it was capable. Have both and besides some ist*D hot pixels visible in1600 ISO, all works as day one....
I think that is the reviewers point by doing a K200D review now- that with the new WR lens it's quite a good deal. I agree that the K200D would have sold better initially if it had a WR kit lens in the combo- but alas, that time has passed. Plenty of K200D's on the used market for users on a budget to pick up.

In Pentax's defense- no other manufacturer has even attempted to make a weather sealed (or resistant) kit lens, at least Pentax ended up doing it.

end of line.
Living on dartmoor UK I found a WR Kit and added it at the first opportunity. its still my wet weather gear !!! Really the only problem is the poor viewfinder and outdated high ISO performance
